Hydro-ethanol prices traded on the spot market in São Paulo state start the year lower. From January 2 to 5, the CEPEA/ESALQ index averaged R$1.8741/L (net of ICMS and PIS/Cofins), a decrease of 1.38% compared to the previous week; For anhydrous, the CEPEA/ESALQ index registered a small positive variation of 0.8% in the same period, at R$2.1262/L (net PIS/Cofins).
According to Cepea researchers, even in a scenario of greater demand for aquatic products – some distributors needed to replenish stocks of products sold between Christmas and New Year – business was carried out at lower prices. Other buyers supply themselves with the purchased product through contracts, without having to act immediately. The pressure also comes from the large supply of hydrate present in the reservoirs.
