Colombia has two new beaches bearing the international sustainable seal: what are they? – Travel – Life

In addition to the two new certified beaches in Sucre, there are four other beaches that have been awarded the Blue Flag for the second year in a row.And highlighting the efforts made to maintain standards of excellence. These are Playa El Morro in Tumaco, Playa Dorada in Buenaventura, Playa Blanca in Santa Marta, and Playa Segunda Ensenada in Covinas.

On the other hand, special recognition was given to three beaches that maintained the Blue Flag uninterrupted for five consecutive years: Belo Horizonte, under the franchise of Hotel Zuana in Santa Marta, Playa Azul de la Boquilla in Cartagena, and Johnny Cay Beach in San Andres.

This distinction, which is renewed annually, analyzes criteria such as water quality, safety, services, management, education and environmental information, highlighting the country’s firm commitment to the sustainable management of its coastal tourist destinations.

This department is led by the Colombian Society for Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, which brings together actors in the basic water and sanitation sector. This entity serves as the official operator of the Blue Flags program and serves as a representative of the Environmental Education Foundation In Colombia.

According to the project manager, Andres Chavez: “For Acodal Centro, it is gratifying to know that two new beaches in the country have been certified, bringing today nine beaches with Blue Flag certification. We highlight that the province of Sucre currently has three beaches, including this El Edén in Coveñas and Palo Blanco in Santiago de Tolo. We hope to continue growing in this way, so that we have more certified beaches in Colombia and become on par with the best sun and beach destinations.
