There was not a great deal of what was approved by the National Conference in 2023 on economic matters. In addition to the first phase of tax reform, which has been discussed for 30 years, the legislative year saw important approvals in this area, such as the new fiscal framework, the regulation of betting, taxation of the funds of the super-rich, and changes in tax policy. However, there were pending issues for 2024, a year with a tight calendar in the second half, due to municipal elections and the move towards a succession of Speakers of the Chamber of Deputies: Arthur Lira (Chamber of Representatives) and Rodrigo Pacheco (Senate) leaving office at the beginning of 2025.
