Mayor Cavalier Johnson and the city’s Department of Public Works announced that electric scooters are officially back on Milwaukee’s streets during an event at the City Hall Rotunda on Monday.
City spokeswoman Tiffany Shepherd said scooter companies Lime and Spin are regular partners of the city. Businesses are required to perform an inspection at least once a month to ensure that tires, brakes and suspensions are working properly.
How many scooters will be in Milwaukee this year?
Between April and October, each company will provide at least 250 motorcycles, and between May and September, they must provide at least 500 each. Shepherd said it’s up to companies how many scooters they want to deploy between November and March.
During the 2022-2023 pilot program, there were three scooter operators in Milwaukee, each of whom had to provide at least 500 scooters during the summer months.

How much does it cost to rent a scooter in Milwaukee?
Scooters charge a fixed cost to unlock each scooter and a price per minute when riding. Depending on the app, Lime scooters start at $1 per ride, plus $0.39 per minute. The spin scooters cost $1 to unlock and $4 per minute.
Where can you ride scooters?
You can ride electric scooters on the road, in bike lanes, or on multi-use paths that allow it. Users are not allowed to ride scooters on sidewalks.
Where can you park scooters in Milwaukee?
Park scooters upright and make sure they do not obstruct pedestrian traffic. You cannot park it in parks, loading zones, accessible parking spaces, curb ramps, driveways, driveways or bridges.
