Ethanol: the price falls in 15 states, rises in 7 and in DF and remains stable in 4

Data from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) show that the average price of hydro-ethanol fell in 15 Brazilian states in the week between December 31, 2023 and January 6, 2024.

According to the Afghan National Police, the average fuel price increased in seven other states and the federal district and remained stable in four states.

At the stations surveyed by the Brazilian National Police, the average price of ethanol decreased by 0.88%, from R$3.42 to R$3.39 per litre.

In São Paulo, the largest producing and consuming state, the reduction amounted to 0.3%, from R$3.30 to R$3.29.

The largest decrease (-7.32%) was recorded in Goiás, a state where the price of a liter rose from R$3.28 to R$3.04.

The lowest price of ethanol at a gas station was R$2.74 per liter in São Paulo. The highest level of R$6.60 was recorded in Pará.

On a monthly comparison basis, the average price of ethanol decreased by 4.24%.

Compared with gasoline

Ethanol was more competitive compared to gasoline in 10 states in the country: Alagoas, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, as well as the Federal District.

In other states, filling your tank with gasoline was more beneficial.
