La Rioja generates 217 MW of renewable energy and organizes its distribution throughout the country

The Arauco Wind Farm (I, II and III) supplies the national energy system, helping to ensure that electricity reaches the country’s homes in an environmentally friendly way. All of this energy is renewable, which is very beneficial to the system because no fossil fuels are burned. Energy is the same, whether it is wind, sun or fuel, what differs is whether it is renewable or not, in this case it is renewable.

The Department of Energy of La Rioja Province relies on Parque Arauco, which has an installed capacity of 217 MW and has expansion plans in both wind and photovoltaic power. This capacity represents about 70% of the electrical energy consumed in the province, or 100% of Rioja’s homes.

However, like all energy parks in the Argentine Republic, the Arauco complex is connected to the National Interconnected System (SADI), managed by CAMMESA, Argentina’s wholesale electricity company. The energy generated from the park is injected into SADI and distributed on demand throughout the country, regulated by CAMMESA. The energy price is set by CAMMESA per megawatt hour (MWh) generated and cannot be adjusted by the province or park.

PEA does not have a direct relationship with the community, but this energy, being of high voltage, must be directed to CAMMESA, which then supplies it to EDELAR for distribution to companies, factories or homes.

It should be noted that thanks to the Arauco Park, import savings worth $500 million have been achieved for Argentina in the last ten years.
