Faced with the emergency, hospital staff took improvised measures to mitigate the damage: they placed buckets to collect water and moved newborns to safer areas.

Doctors and patients’ relatives called on the regional government to take immediate action, including building a new hospital and improving existing health centres.
On the other hand, Director General of the Loreto Regional Government, Javier Shubingahua Tanghua, confirmed that inspections are already underway to assess the damage.
