ANSMED – Rio de Janeiro – The meeting between Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and European Economic and Social Committee President Oliver Röpke marks the relaunch of the activities of the Permanent Forum. A dialogue bringing together representatives of the European Economic and Social Committee and the Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development of Brazil (CDESS).
During the meeting, which was also attended by the EU Ambassador to Brazil Marian Schweiggraaf, President Lula was “congratulated on his commitment to defending democracy against political extremism, and in the fight against poverty and illegal deforestation.”
“The conversation also addressed the energy transition and Brazil’s enormous potential in renewable energy production,” the letter added.
Lula and Rupke then agreed on the need to reform global governance institutions in the political, financial and environmental areas. (I forget).
