Mack Trucks now offers the ability to integrate Heil’s all-electric RevAMP automated side loader (ASL) with the Mack LR Electric Class 8 battery electric vehicle (BEV) as an option through Heil Environment, which is refining and selling the body.
Mack made the announcement during the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo.
The all-electric compactor and auger include a self-contained battery pack, which the company says enables the Mack LR Electric refuse vehicle to run longer. The Heil RevAMP ASL is also quiet and does not contain any hydraulics, according to the company.
The electric ASL is now available to order and is currently in the fleets of some Mack customers.
CARB/HVIP Vouchers
Mack Trucks announced today that the 2024 Mack MD Electric and LR Electric models are eligible for the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP). This brings the total number of Mack battery electric vehicles eligible for HVIP to three.
Discuss the electric vehicle market
Jonathan Randall, President of Mack Trucks (pictured above), spoke during the ACT Expo press conference about the electric vehicle market in general and Mack’s role in it.
“There is no single solution that meets the needs of the industry,” Randall said. “Together, fleets, users and OEMs will figure out how to transition to zero-emission technology.”
Randall identified corporate and charging company sustainability goals and regulations as the three drivers of electric vehicle adoption.
He continued to talk about the economic reality of fleets. “There is economic and operational parity and we’re not there. We’re working hard to get there but we’re not there yet. But if you’re going to wait for that parity to adopt this technology, you’re missing out. We’re working with our partners to find ways, find applications that work so we can To reach this parity or come close to it.
