More than 200,000 electric ovens were recalled due to fire and burn risks

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – More than 200,000 electric stoves were recalled Thursday due to fire and burn hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced.

Frigidaire and Kenmore Smooth Counter Freestanding Electric Ovens, previously recalled in August 2009, have been recalled again.

The ovens, made by Electrolux Home Products Inc., can automatically turn on without being turned on, can fail to shut down, and can heat to temperatures different from those selected, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers, the CPSC said.
