The first heat wave is coming to the country: maximum temperatures could reach 40 degrees Celsius in Rosario this week

Summer has definitely arrived across the country and the first heatwave has been confirmed. Several governorates will be affected by the gradual rise in temperatures, which will continue for at least three days until the rain finally eases.

Maximum temperatures will be several degrees above the normal average for January, with the largest anomalies expected in Cordoba, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Buenos Aires and the federal capital.

In these areas, conditions may lead to a heat wave, as temperatures are expected to continue rising for several days in a row until they finally drop with rain.

The most critical period for this heat wave will be between Monday and Thursday, with temperatures gradually rising. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) and 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in cities such as Rosario and Cordoba.

Starting Friday, a weak cold front will begin to advance over the central region of the country, adding to the instability.

The latter may generate rain and scattered storms, accompanied by a change in wind direction, which may cause a slight to moderate drop in temperatures and put an end to the heat wave in this region.
