The heat is getting intense – Governorate

Forecasts warn that the first half of January will continue with a “classic La Niña pattern” where the heat will remain persistent and rainfall will remain very fragmented. They expect up to 35 degrees and higher thermal sensations.

“Argentina and the entire southern region of South America have entered, in these first days of 2025, a classic regional circulation pattern associated at this time of the year with the La Niña phenomenon,” meteorologist Christian Garavaglia warned.

He pointed out in this regard that after the somewhat cold month of December that the country witnessed, the heat has returned strongly in recent days. “Another notable current characteristic is the prevailing stability over a large part of the national territory that prevents the arrival of cold fronts and the formation of precipitation towards the central part, leaving convective activity restricted and significantly enhanced over the northwestern region and Cuyo, especially in the mountainous areas,” said the specialist.

He explained, “The occasional storms that succeed in forming in isolation toward the center of the country respond to an intense rise in surface temperature with small air disturbances at the highlands, but not a frontal system that arrives to cause a change in the air mass.”

Girl phenomenon

He expanded on this specifically by saying, “Although the La Niña phenomenon has not been officially announced, and some global forecasting centers such as the Australian Center insist that this will not happen at all in the coming months, within the current neutrality that exists, in some periods it could be very close to the typical effects.” For La Niña, this is what seems to be happening in the first half of January in our area.

Thus, during this week “persistent heat will continue to play a major role, as well as a notable absence of rain over central and northern Argentina, pending a reversal of this persistent pattern by the second half of January.” “Some forecasting models are starting to indicate that.”

The heat is getting hot

Regarding temperatures, it is noticeable to see in recent days how values have risen significantly in a large part of the country. There are extreme heat advisories covering western Entre Ríos.

Summer weather will continue to prevail in our province. High temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees today.

Wednesday will be very similar, although thermal records will not drop below 23 degrees in the morning, which also represents an increase in the minimum thermal records.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and what’s to come will always be very similar with mostly somewhat cloudy skies, and minimum temperatures will be around 23 and 24 degrees in the Entre Ríos area, while maximum temperatures will be around 35 or 36 degrees.
