Topcon announces new global sustainability initiatives

Topcon Positioning Systems has announced a series of new developments and initiatives as part of its sustainability efforts.

The company announced a new global team dedicated to sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), which will be led by Michael Gomez, vice president of global sustainability and CSR.

Gomez will lead the sustainability team for all markets and product lines, liaising with Topcon’s parent organization, Topcon Corporation, in Japan.

“Sustainability has long been part of the fabric of Topcon and is something we take very seriously when we take steps to support our global initiatives,” Gomez said.

“Looking to the future, we will strive to support the progress of the industries and communities we serve, at all levels. The work we do is based on the Sustainable Development Goals that were adopted at the UN Summit in 2015 and have been part of Topcon’s vision statement since 2016.”

Another recent initiative is the transition to solar energy on the Livermore University campus. Initial planning began in October 2022 and the project is underway.

Once the project is complete, the campus, including multiple buildings, manufacturing facilities and electric vehicle charging stations, will be powered by solar energy.
