Ulstein Verft has signed a contract with JP Morgan Asset Management for offshore wind construction services, including green methanol and hybrid battery options.

Shipbuilder Ulstein Verft is expanding its construction activities for offshore wind construction service operating vessels (CSOVs) through contracts signed with JP Morgan Asset Management.

In 2023, Ulstein Verft received an order from Bernhard Schulte Offshore to design and build two CSOVs, in a contract that includes options for two additional vessels. These options were later transferred to institutional investors advised by JP Morgan Asset Management, which assumed responsibility for the construction of Ulstein’s first two ships. CSOVs commissioned by Bernhard Schulte Offshore and JP Morgan Asset Management will be key to expanding renewable energy operations in Europe, and form part of the offshore wind sector news.

Ships of the ULSTEIN SX222 project have a wide central aisle with compensated movement and an elevator tower for transporting personnel and cargo. In total, the ships will have the capacity to accommodate 132 people. In addition, a 3D crane will be installed capable of lifting marine cargo weighing 5 tons. The ships are 89.6 meters long and 19.2 meters wide.
