At the recent German Prolight+Sound exhibition, Ayrton introduced two new lamps added to its catalogue, the Kyalami and Nando 502 Wash.

Kyalami is a new IP65 rated laser source device inspired by the MagicDot. First released in 2015, MagicDot sold by the thousands within months and continues to inspire creativity. Nine years later, Kyalami was born, the first IP65 laser source light in Ayrton’s innovative solutions series.
Designed for architectural graphic effects, Kyalami is an extremely compact device. Their ability to perform fundamentally depends on their design, miniaturization and a simple cylindrical footprint that allows multiple devices to be mounted within just a few centimeters.
The ball, measuring just 265mm in diameter, includes a 100W Kyalami laser module, cooling system and optics, with a 126mm front lens positioned in continuity with the ball.
Kyalami’s patented triple-lens optical system produces a 1-degree beam and a focus range that allows the beam shape to be adjusted based on operating distance.

The device delivers a luminous flux of 400,000 lux at a distance of 10 meters from its laser source and is designed to generate a D65 white dot for correct color reproduction. The color department includes a high-definition progressive CMY color mixing system and an instantly accessible multi-position color wheel equipped with five corrective filters and 17 complementary color filters.
It also comes with 29 fixed metal gobos designed to sculpt light in “beam” mode. This gobo can be combined with two individually combinable rotating prisms, allowing a variety of volumetric lighting effects to be produced. The frost filter completes the graphical tool panel.
Kyalami adopts a minimalist style thanks to streamlined waterproofing and continuous rotation of the all-round tilting motion. It will be officially launched next April.
Nando 502 washing
Part of Ayrton’s Multi Sources IP65 6 series, the Nando 502 Wash is an evolution of the NandoBeam range and a compact IP65 light, specifically designed to illuminate versatile scenes, both indoors and outdoors, and even in salty environments.
Suitable for stage lighting, this new LED source offers the advantage of better color space integration and easier color reproduction. The Nando 502 Wash is equipped with 12 high-performance 40W LED sources with RGB-L additive color synthesis and a patented optical system consisting of a unique 210mm array in PMMA. It works with 12 glass light guides with an exit surface composed of optical microstructure.
It has a color rendering index greater than 86. It can reach a luminous flux of 10,000 lumens and delivers a homogeneous mix of pastel or saturated colors. A full library of pre-programmed colors allows for precise, intense and contrasting color ranges. Ayrton installed separate LED source control channels in all versions of Wash and included an almost endless effects library.
Versatile in nature, it can instantly switch from beam to wash with a 15:1 magnification ratio and a zoom range of 3.5° to 53°. Black honeycomb and its separation from light sources helps increase the contrast level. The official statement says that the glass window with anti-reflective treatment ensures “an optimal visual result and better performance.”
The new simple design of the Nando 502 Wash ensures full access to all functions. By reducing the thickness of aluminum parts, improving the cooling system, simplifying lens orientation and incorporating low-density optical components, Ayrton was able to reduce the overall weight by 20%. A new submersible ventilation system in a non-waterproof compartment allows for greater cooling. This device will be officially launched in May.
