With advice from Thymos Energia, Curitiba embarks on a sustainable project

Curitiba announced a sustainable project aimed at reducing the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The initiative aims to implement renewable energy in the training center and Coto Pereira Stadium.

The plan, planned in partnership with Thymos Energia, aims to prevent annual emissions of 50 tons of the compound, which is one of the main causes of global warming.

According to studies conducted by partner KOXA, the total emissions avoided correspond to planting 300 trees or removing 50 gasoline-powered cars from circulation. Currently, the club from Paraná consumes approximately 1,000 megawatt hours of electricity annually.

The renewable energy selection is part of Coritiba’s new management which in June last year finalized the sale of SAF to Treecorp.

“Companies around the world are currently engaged in adopting measures that reduce impacts on the environment. I see it as fundamental that a club that follows the Curitiba structure aligns with this behavior, setting an example and encouraging others to look up,” said Andre Campestrini, Curitiba’s CFO. “The problem is more responsible.”

“Going into the energy market is the natural path and will enable Curitiba to achieve greater savings, leading to lower input costs. Moreover, the renewable energy option is in line with sustainability, and using these sources has been one of the most adopted ways by companies around the world to reduce emissions,” said Nilton Lima, responsible for the energy sector at THIMOS.
